Stylease® Infant Wear Showcased on NBC’s
TODAY show
Traverse
City, MI – May 8, 2005 –Officials at
Stylease announced that NBC’s TODAY show featured
their unique line of children's apparel on Mother’s
Day.
Stylease,
the one-piece infant wear that looks like separates, was
featured on the number one national morning show’s "Mothers
of Invention" segment with Lester Holt. The founder
and chief designer of Stylease infant wear, Jennifer Hughes,
appeared with a selected few Mom Inventors and their products
that highlighted problem-solving, creative inventions. The
viewer response to the show was tremendous. According
to producers at NBC TODAY, the “lion-share
of inquiries was for Stylease.”
The
unique line of baby clothes, launched two years ago, has
a patented concept not seen before in commercially available
children's apparel. The rompers are designed to look like
separate tops and bottoms, giving the baby a contemporary
layered look, but are actually one-piece outfits with snap
or zippered openings in key areas for easy dressing and
changing. "
When
my daughter Phoebe was 4 months old, I was getting bored
with the jammie look, but didn’t want to give
up the convenience of the one-piece outfits," says,
Hughes. “I wanted a more sophisticated look for my
daughter, but didn't want to deal with separates. I was sure
I wasn't the only one struggling to balance fashion and practicality.”
She
thought, ‘Where is it written that a one-piece
has to look like one? Why can’t someone make a one-piece
romper that looks like a layered outfit made up of separates,
making it easy for the parent, but still stylish for the
child?’
Jennifer
says her inspiration for inventing Stylease came from the
lack of a fashionable layered look for babies that was
also practical for the parent, and comfortable for the
child.
In
addition to the TODAY show
segment, Stylease and it’s creator Jennifer Hughes,
appear in the McGraw-Hill publication “The Mom Inventors
Handbook: How to Turn Your Great Idea Into the Next Big
Thing” by Tamara
Monosoff, due in stores nationwide in September. Stylease
will also be featured in an upcoming issue of Parenting magazine
in November. Industry and consumer reaction to the
line has been more than enthusiastic.
Since
launching the line in March of 2003, Stylease is sold in
over 200 specialty stores nationwide including Guam, Puerto
Rico and the Virgin Islands. Officials at Stylease
report that last month they began supplying their product
to three department stores in Japan and also signed with
a large national U.S. distributor. "
When
we show people our outfits, the illusion of layers is a
little too convincing." says
Hughes. "People
look at them and think ‘What cute separates' but when
they realize they are actually looking at a one-piece romper,
they become truly captivated."
Stylease's
spring and fall lines are available in four sizes from
3-24 months. They retail between $24-$32. The
line is sold at select specialty retailers across the country
and available nationwide through Stylease's web site www.stylease.com.
